Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Marshlands collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Marshlands is a recovery sanctuary opening in DUMBO, Brooklyn. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@marshlands.club.

Information we collect

Waitlist sign-up. When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address.
Optional profile survey. If you choose to answer our short survey, we collect what you tell us: your neighborhood, how often you sauna or cold plunge, the amenities and Drawing Room options you are interested in, and, only if you provide it, your mobile phone number.
Founding membership reservation. If you reserve a founding membership, we collect your name and email and securely save a payment method (card or bank account) through our payment processor. Nothing is charged when you reserve; a deposit is charged only if and when we execute the lease, and it is refundable until opening.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and how you interact with our pages. This is used for analytics and to protect the site from automated abuse.

How we use your information

To operate the waitlist and contact you about Marshlands, including news as the club takes shape and first access when memberships open.
To understand demand and improve our offering using the survey responses.
To process and service founding membership reservations.
To protect our forms and website against spam, fraud, and bot traffic.
To measure and improve our marketing.

Text messages

We send text messages only if you give us your number and consent to receive them. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

Service providers

We share information only with vendors that help us run the website and our waitlist, and only as needed to provide their service. These include Cloudflare (website hosting, security, and data storage), Stripe (saving and processing payment methods for reservations), Resend (sending our emails), and Meta and Google (measuring our marketing). We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and analytics

We use analytics and advertising tools, including the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics, to understand how our marketing performs and how visitors use the site. These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

To protect our waitlist and sign-up forms from automated abuse, spam, and bot traffic, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-detection service provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Turnstile runs invisibly in the background when you interact with our forms and, in most cases, requires no action from you.

To distinguish human visitors from bots, Turnstile processes a limited set of technical signals, including your IP address, a TLS fingerprint, your browser's user-agent string, and the site key and origin of the page you are on. Cloudflare states that these signals are strictly necessary to detect and block bots, and that it cannot directly identify any individual from them, including from IP addresses. Turnstile is not used to identify, profile, or target you, and it is not used to track you across other websites.

For this processing, Cloudflare acts as our service provider on our instructions, and separately as an independent controller for the limited purpose of improving Turnstile's bot-detection capabilities, on the basis of its legitimate interests. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to operate the waitlist and reservations and for our legitimate business purposes, and we delete or anonymize it when it is no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message. You can also ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@marshlands.club.

Children

Marshlands is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above.
